Mountain View Hive – Clover Nectar Flow

The Mountain View Hive, which we collected in Palo Alto on June 2, 2010 after my uncle spotted them on his evening walk, is a small colony but they are now thriving. It seems like there is a good white and red/pink clover bloom going on just down the street in a large field at the schools. Good timing as the kids are out of school so the bees and kids won’t run into each other. Clover honey is more on the light color side but still has a killer taste to it. We might not harvest this Fall as I want them to keep growing in numbers, but we’ll see. I rather see these girls do well through the winter than take honey from them.

Here’s a short video of some entrance activity of this hive.
