Sunshine Colony With Honey – 9/11/2010

One week after we hived the Sunshine colony which was an external colony living on a cedar tree, we popped off the top today to make sure they are ok. The Sunshine girls are doing more than ok. Their numbers are strong and foragers are not only bringing in pollen but nectar as well. We see some honey in some cells now! Remember they had zero honey just last week during the cutout. Actually, I’m really happy to see all my hives are now storing honey for the winter.

Here’s our first clear picture of the Sunshine Queen (The last was when she was in the cage).  She’s a beauty!
