Well, I’m currently in Hong Kong and it’s Saturday here. Have a little time before heading out for lunch so I thought I do a little catching up on the hive updates.
The Los Altos Sunshine colony is still small but they are packing it in for the Winter. The nectar flow is strong right now and they are filling the cells with honey, and much pollen.
Below is a video of the queen running around looking for an empty cell to lay in.
Because their population is low there were some frames of combs that they could not use and of course protect from invaders. Wax moths sneaked in and did some minor damage to one comb as you can see below. The wax moth larva tunneled itself through those cells that runs almost parallel to the rubber band on the left.
