Active Days and Freezing Nights

It has been a harsh late Fall and early Winter. Half of
December 2010 was raining and when it wasn’t the nights have been
near freezing. This pattern continues into the new year. The first
week of 2011 has been dry but the nights are cold, waking up to a
blanket of white frost. Good thing is the daytime warms up to high
50’s which provides enough warmth where the colonies become active,
especially those hives placed in good sunny locations. I’m blogging
from my iPod touch 4. Below is a poor quality picture taken with
the 0.8 megapixel camera of the active Mountain View hive at 11 AM.
