Redwood City Elks Lodge Swarm of Bees Absconded

Catching swarms is a lot of fun, some are simple and some are more difficult. But with any swarms, they aren’t a sure thing. You hive them and some do abscond even if you provide them with a frame or two of resources to hopefully anchor them into their new home. The Redwood City Elks Lodge swarm that was captured on Tuesday has absconded either late yesterday while I was out catching more swarms or this afternoon. Nothing left in the hive except a small comb they’ve already built. When the queen has this mentality to swarm, she isn’t going to stay put very easily.
