Mountain View Bee Hive Update 4/15/2011

The weather was gorgeous today and this afternoon we opened up the supers to check to see how full they are. The hive now consists of 3 brood medium boxes and 2 honey supers. The most top super is still empty but I do see the bees festooning and a small portion of white comb on one of the frames. The one below was completely filled. Ten medium frames all drawn and full of honey. Some are capped and some are not. We won’t be harvesting just yet. I would like to see the top super at least half filled before I harvest from the lower super.

This hive is healthy and full of bees. There are also a lot of drones, hopefully they aren’t ready to swarm!
