Sunnyvale Falcon Hive – Queen Released

Per the previous blog post right below this one we removed a colony of honey bees in Sunnyvale from a recycle bin last night. We didn’t catch the queen on-site but we did after we got home. Today was hot, reaching 85F so I released her one day before my standard two days of caging before letting the queens out.

Here’s the queen in the queen catcher.

Here’s a good picture comparing the queen bee and a worker bee. This queen is laying but she’s not really large large yet.
