Monique drove all the way down this evening from Marin to adopt two hives. The first is the Lincoln hive. This colony was hived as a swarm and have been thriving. The medium they are housed in now are completely full of bees, brood of all stages, and much capped honey. Monique will need to add a second box to this hive once her bee suit arrives from Mann Lake.
The Falcon hive is the second one she’s taking home tonight. This colony was hived as a swarm that built inside a recycle bin. We had to add a second medium on about a week ago because they completely filled the single medium. Overflowing with bees and out of room. They haven’t started building in the second medium yet but if the flow is stronger in Marin than here, then they will start on building new comb. Again, this hive is full of bees, brood of all stages, and capped honey for Winter.
Thanks Monique for driving all the way down to adopt the hives!
