Freezing December Nights

The daytime times in December has been decent but when the sun does over the horizon it is a whole different story. Last night temps dipped near freezing where we woke up to frost. Tonight isn’t any different as temps are forecasted to be low 30s and I’m sure we’ll be waking up to a white blanket of frost. Last year I lost two hives in December, we’ll see how the colonies withstand this freezing cold this week. I’ll go out and take some thermal images of the hives around midnight when the temperatures dip even lower. (8pm it was already 42F).
