We got to this swarm nice and early this morning around 8 AM when the temperatures were still in the 40’s as we had a cool night. As we got there the sun just started to hit the cluster of bees waking them up. A good size swarm.
It was not an easy cut, drop, and put the cover on the bees kind of swarm rescue. We trimmed and then shook the larger branch dropping the bees into an 8 frame deep hive box.
And here’s our queen. She’s not huge but a good size. Perhaps a virgin queen.
We left the box there so we can get all the bees. I picked up the box around 9 PM tonight.
Thanks Mark for calling us to save the honeybees!
