Palo Alto Swarm 15 Feet Up

Doing a little catching up as I’ve been super busy with work and all. Tuesday we were out catching swarms around dinner time (a few flew off already during the daytime). This one is in Palo Alto. A swarm that landed around noon and it was 15 feet up. We were just able to reach it with our 12 feet ladder.

Aileen told us that the bee swarm cluster was larger, maybe volleyball size but when we arrived it was only a small grapefruit size. On the branch next to the swarm was a lot of wax. Perhaps this swarm had two queens and one flew off with 2/3 of the bees while 1/3 remained with another. Here’s our queen.

Thanks Aileen for calling us to save the bees!
