Two Swarms In Palo Alto – One Queen

Tuesday night after I put the kids to bed I received a swarm call in the same neighborhood as the previous swarm in Palo Alto. This wasn’t just one swarm but two, both attached to an arbor in the backyard. When we arrived we saw an ok sized swarm and then there was the second, which was TINY, maybe just a tad larger than a tennis ball. Here’s a picture of the tiny swarm. I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture of the larger swarm.

It was simply setting up all the equipment and then brushing the swarms into the box. We took them both home to find the queen. The larger swarm we found the queen but the tiny swarm appears to be queenless.

Thanks for calling us to save the honeybees!
