Bees In Attic AGAIN – Site Check in Los Altos

It appears that 2012 honey bee swarms have a thing for attics. This year I’ve received so many calls to remove bees that are entering through the vent holes into the attic. Here’s yet another one in Los Altos. This colony had a lot of activity today compared to the previous blog post. Perhaps this is a larger colony.

Because this house has a flat roof and from my inspection it looks like I can just pop off the side board and have full access to the bees. But we went inside just to see how big or deep this colony really is. Not too big at all from the thermal image of the colony (the lower hot spot, the upper is a light).
