Adopt A Hive – Queenless Colony Goes Home With A New Queen

A few weeks back on Earth Day we rescued a swarm of bees in Mountain View, hived them into Susan’s TBH but the colony became queenless. The new queen probably went out for a mating flight and didn’t make it back. Last Sunday Susan came down from Berkeley to pick up her TBH nuc with the bees, so we kind of kidnapped the queen from the Dartmoth swarm for her to take home. Actually, Susan will be using this nice looking queen in her current queenless hive. Then wait for a Russian queen to arrive from her friend to use for this TBH nuc colony.

Thanks Susan for adopting these bees!

Here’s the queen Susan brought home with her. She released the queen the other day so hopefully they have accepted her.
