This afternoon we received a call from Caroline of Los Alto regarding a swarm of bees in her front yard. The bees clustered on a hedge and are about two feet from ground level. So my dad and I headed out after dinner to help relocate the honeybee swarm. Here’s what we found when we got there. A swarm the size of maybe a softball, pretty small. We trimmed and cut, then placed all the bees in a hive box to take home.
At home we looked for the queen. It wasn’t too difficult to find her in such a small swarm esepcially since she’s so big! A very nice looking queen bee with a tiger striped back.
Thanks Caroline for calling us to save our local honey bees!
