Cherries and Bees

Started our family day out today with a 1.5 hour drive into Brentwood for some cherry picking at Maggiore Cherry Ranch (Directions: 580 east, exit Vasco Rd towards Brentwood, turn right at Camino Diablo, and almost immediately it’s on your left side, first cherry farm on your left). We got there nice and early to avoid the crowd and traffic as Brentwood is having a big Memorial Day event called Blues, Brews, and BBQs.

Honeybees are used to pollinate cherry orchards. Without our honeybees we would not have large crops of cherries each year. Maggiore has some nice large and sweet Brooks cherry and the more crunchy and less sweet variety called Coral cherry.
