Newly Established Colony Relocated – Los Altos

September came and the late Summer swarms started. Two Sundays ago Walter contacted me saying a huge swarm moved into the attic of his home through the vent holes. I went for a site check that evening and then scheduled last Sunday for the relocation.

We knew where they were but brought the thermal imager just to verify.

Right on the spot! 🙂 Our first peek at the colony.

Holy cow! This late Summer/Fall swarm is pretty big!

Only one week they have built 5 comb sections. When there are a lot of bees they are very efficient. We found eggs in the larger combs. Very little pollen and no honey.

We caught the queen walking around the forth comb section. She is huge!

Thanks Walter for contacting us to save our local honey bees.
