Adopt-A-Hive – Father and Son – Their New Hobby

Had a pleasure meeting Thomas and Tom this Sunday as my dad and I delivered a healthy colony of bees to their house. While we were there we did a little beekeeping 101 lesson while we transferred this ten frame colony over to their woodware. The colony has a ton of brood of all stages and enough honey to support the growing population. We were on the ninth frame and still didn’t find the queen. I didn’t want to disappoint little Tom and was ready to take apart the hive again to find her. Good thing, on the very last frame we finally found the queen.

Awesome! Bees are such a great way for family members of all ages to do something together outside.
