Wine Barrel Honey Bees Transferred for New Beekeeper – Sunnyvale Bee Removal

Saturday we made a new beekeeper and transferred the bees from Rob’s wine barrel into a hive set up. The wine barrel is actually really bad for the bees. In all the wine barrels I’ve opened up, there is always comb that have dropped to the bottom. It just gets too hot inside with zero ventilation. When we flipped the top cover over the newly drawn comb went sideways but we quickly propped it up and was able to recover everything. After we were done my dad spotted the queen still in the wine barrel. She’s probably the largest queen I’ve seen this season.
